Unemployment figures for Cornwall show fourth fall

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Cornwall has fallen for the fourth month in a row.

Figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show 7,374 people claimed Jobseeker's Allowance in June - 729 fewer than the previous month.

It represents 2.4% of the population which is lower than the national average of 3.6%.

Across the UK, the number of claimants also fell last month by 20,800 to 1.46 million.

The ONS figures show unemployment fell by 34,000 in the UK to 2.47m in the three months to May.
