Cornwall cliff fall man calls friend for rescue help

A man who was stuck on a cliff ledge with leg and head injuries after a fall called a friend on a mobile phone to relay a message to emergency services.

The man had fallen about 20ft (6m) down Black Cliff near Hayle.

He called his friend at about 0400 BST but could not exactly describe his location. His friend called then 999.

The man was airlifted to hospital after two lifeboats were launched and found him. They directed coastguard teams and a rescue helicopter to his location.

He was airlifted to hospital by the helicopter from RNAS Culdrose.
