Man dies after diving off Cornwall coast

A diver has died after getting into difficulty off the south coast of Cornwall.

The man, who has not been named but is said to have been local, was one of a group of people diving in Gerrans Bay on Sunday morning.

The alarm was raised at about 1120 BST which resulted in both Falmouth lifeboats and a rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose being scrambled.

The man was airlifted to Royal Cornwall Hospital where he later died.
