Students at a Devon university have designed a conservation computer game based on a Cornish monkey.

Kodak's Jungle Rumble is based on a capuchin monkey who was rescued by The Monkey Sanctuary in Looe.

Four students at the University of Plymouth designed the game which Facebook has made available for download.

The team of designers said it was important to include "messages around conservation".

Digital Art and Technology student Gavin Jones said: "We wanted to create a game that was fun and playable.

"So we've come up with a classic platform game using Kodak's story at its heart.

"We learned a great deal from our time spent at the sanctuary."

Kodak was sold to the pet trade in Greece but has been cared for at the monkey sanctuary since 2008.

Hugo Derijke, Senior Lecturer in Digital Arts at the university, said: "This project has provided some invaluable experiential learning for our students.

"They have had to take a brief from a customer and set about creating something that is both fun but also educational."
