Cornwall's jobless claimant count falls again

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Cornwall has fallen slightly.

According to the Office of National Statistics there were 7,080 claimants in July - 294 fewer than for the previous month.

The figure represents 2.2 % of the population - lower than the national average of 3.6%.

It is the fifth consecutive month figures have fallen and year-on-year it is down by more than 10%.

Nationally, the claimant count fell by 3,800 in July to 1.46 million.
