A Falmouth leisure boat skipper has been charged with being over the legal alcohol limit while in charge of a vessel.

David Pill, 39, was arrested after mooring the Lady Elizabeth at the Prince of Wales Pier at Falmouth on 17 August.

Mr Pill, of Tresillian Road, Falmouth, was bailed to appear at Truro Magistrates Court on 9 September.

The 50ft Lady Elizabeth can carry up to 75 passengers.

Mr Pill had been skipper of the Lady Elizabeth for about a year and a half, according to the boat's operator K&S Cruises.

A spokeswoman said: "We care about the public and we are striving to build up our company.

"We have never had anything like this before."

She added that Mr Pill had been sacked and the Lady Elizabeth was out of action until a new skipper was found.
