Cornwall's jobless claimant numbers fall again

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Cornwall has seen another slight decrease.

According to the Office of National Statistics, there were 7,064 claimants in August - 16 fewer than for the previous month.

The figure represents 2.1 % of the population - lower than the national average of 3.6%.

It is the sixth consecutive month the figures have decreased.

Nationally, the claimant count increased by 2,300 in August to 1.47m, the first increase since January.
