Isles of Scilly flat fire 'is suspected arson'

A man has been arrested on the Isles of Scilly on suspicion of arson following a flat fire in St Mary's.

The fire service was alerted to the fire at Sally Port on St Mary's at about 2320 BST on Thursday.

Five people were rescued from the building and two were taken to St Mary's Hospital after inhaling smoke.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He will be taken to the mainland for interview.
