Man accused of arson attack on Isles of Scilly

A 22-year-old man from the Isles of Scilly has been charged with arson and intent to endanger life after a fire at a flat in the islands.

Sean Oakley, from St Mary's, was arrested following the blaze in Hughtown on Thursday night.

The flat's five occupants were taken to safety and nobody was injured.

Mr Oakley appeared before Bodmin Magistrates' Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at Truro Crown Court on 26 October.
