Hayle teenager accidentally shot with crossbow

A teenager is to undergo surgery in Cornwall after being accidentally shot with a crossbow.

The 15-year-old was playing at his home in Hayle when his friend accidentally shot him, police said.

The boy was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital on Tuesday evening. Police were alerted to the incident by medical staff at about 0125 BST on Wednesday.

The injury is not believed to be life-threatening. Officers have seized the crossbow.
