The Cornish base of a national civil engineering company has announced it is looking to shed 43 jobs across South West England.

The Bodmin-based office of May Gurney confirmed that it was cutting 43 jobs.

The company said that it had started a 28-day consultation with workers and it was trying to avoid making any compulsory redundancies.

The company provides highways, environmental and utility services across the UK.
