Cornwall Council 'on target' to publish finances online

Cornwall Council has pledged to meet a government deadline to publish its finances online.

It is part of a government drive for local authorities to prove they are making efficiency savings rather than cutting frontline public services.

Local authorities are being expected to publish all their spending data for items over £500 pounds on the internet.

The council said it was working on the project and it would meet the 31 January deadline.

It is aiming to save a total of £170m over four years, with about 700 jobs expected to be cut.
