Snow due to fall across parts of Devon overnight

Snow is set to return to parts of Devon overnight.

Gritters were treating the county's main roads and motorists were being advised not to travel overnight if possible.

Up to 1.1in (3cm) of snow was expected in the north and east of the county, with up to 4ins (8cm) on Dartmoor and Exmoor, Devon County Council said.

Snow was less likely in southern and western parts and temperatures were due to fall to -3C, it added.

The council has winter travel advice on its website.
