Body recovered from sea off Fistral beach in Newquay

A body has been recovered from the sea off Newquay in Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the alarm was raised by a member of the public at about 1500 GMT.

The RNLI's inshore lifeboat and Newquay coastguard team helped police remove the body from the water at Fistral beach.

The body, which is believed to be male, has been taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro where a post-mortem examination will take place.
