Part of an old fridge was responsible for the evacuation of a Cornish beach on Sunday, police have confirmed.
Devon and Cornwall Police closed off the beach at Watergate Bay, Newquay, when a suspicious device was found just after 1300 GMT.
The decision was taken to evacuate nearby cafes and shops amid fears the device could have been an unexploded World War II bomb.
However, experts said it was a compressor from a discarded fridge.
