Police have named a mother found dead in a lake in a Cornwall village.

Helen Budding's body was discovered by a dog walker in Millbrook Lake, a popular recreational spot, on Friday morning.

Police said Ms Budding had been in some village pubs the night before and there were no suspicious circumstances.

Father Theo Thomas from All Saints Church said the death was "desperately sad" and the 47-year-old would be remembered by the community.

He said: "It has happened at the very heart of our community because that lake commands a lot of attention in the village.

"It is so sad that this should happen just here and we extend our sincere condolences to the family and the children."

Millbrook is a rural village with a population of more than 2,000. It lies on the Rame Peninsula, opposite Plymouth, Devon, and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
