Man's body found at cliff base in Newquay

A man's body has been found at the bottom of cliffs in Newquay.

The body is believed to be that of a 25-year-old man who was reported missing from Surrey, police have said.

A rescue helicopter, coastguard teams and the lifeboat were called to Whipsiderry Beach just after 2030 BST on Thursday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were investigating the circumstances and were currently treating the death as unexplained, but not suspicious.

The body was transported to the town's harbour by the Newquay lifeboat.

Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
