Penlee lifeboat rescues Marazion gig rowers from rocks

Six people have been rescued from a boat which ran aground off the coast of Cornwall.

Falmouth Coastguard said a distress call was received from the crew of the gig boat just before 09:00 GMT.

The training gig was stranded on Hogus Rocks off Marazion, a Maritime and Coastguard spokesman said.

The rowers, from Mount's Bay Pilot Gig Club, were rescued by the crew of the Penlee Inshore Lifeboat and transferred to a nearby gig. No-one was injured.
