A Cornish MP is in hospital after falling in Parliament and breaking her hip bone.

Sarah Newton, the Conservative MP for Truro and Falmouth, broke her hip while working in London on Tuesday.

The 50-year-old was taken to hospital where she stayed overnight and is continuing to be treated.

Her office, based in Truro, confirmed the situation but said it had no further comment or information about her condition.
