Cornwall sees drop in unemployment

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Cornwall has fallen by more than 1,500 since March.

Latest figures from the Office of National Statistics show that in May 9,191 people - 2.8% of the workforce - were out of work and claiming benefit.

This is compared to 10,705 people in March, the equivalent of 3.2% of the county's working population.

Nationally unemployment fell by 51,000 between February and April, with 2.6 million out of work and claiming aid.
