People in Newquay have been warned not to climb safety barriers and fences after a 23-year old man fell more than 15ft (4.5m) down a wall on to a road during a night out.

CCTV footage of the local man falling on to Beach Road has been released by the Newquay Safe Partnership.

The man only suffered a wrist injury, the partnership said.

He had no memory of the incident and agreed the video could be released as a warning to others, police said.

Insp Ian Drummond-Smith, from Devon and Cornwall Police, on behalf of the partnership, said: "Although he suffered an injury to his wrist, he is fortunate not to be more badly hurt.

"I hope this will make people stop and think before they put themselves in unnecessary danger."

The partnership - which involves police, councils, businesses and residents - was set up in 2009 to crack down on underage drinking after the deaths of two teenagers in the town.
