Lottery cash for Tuckingmill All Saints Church repairs

A church in west Cornwall has been awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund for urgent repairs.

All Saints Church in Tuckingmill was recently put on the "endangered" list and was awarded £146,000.

The Grade II listed church needs a total of about £250,000 to carry out repairs to its crumbling stonework. More investigation work is to be carried out.

The local congregation has raised nearly £24,000 towards the work.

The money comes from the Repair Grants for Places of Worship scheme, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund with guidance from English Heritage.

The Reverend Mike Firbank said: "The church itself is built of sandstone, so we're going to have to do some drilling this year to discover how bad the brickwork is externally and internally."
