Two men rescued from Newquay after dinghy engine failed

Two men have been rescued after their dinghy's engine failed just west of Newquay's Towan headland.

The pair, aged 19 and 21, managed to row to a fishing marker buoy and hang on while they waited to be rescued.

The Newquay inshore lifeboat put a tow on and brought them safely into the harbour.

A spokesperson said they would rapidly have headed into the nearby reef and been at risk had it not been for the buoy.
