Kayaker, 64, rescued off Poldhu Cove

A kayaker who fell out of his craft and was in the sea for about 45 minutes has been rescued by lifeboat off the south Cornwall coast.

Falmouth Coastguard said the 64-year-old man was unable to get back onto the kayak off Poldhu Cove.

He was kayaking with a 47-year-old woman, who raised the alarm at about 13:05 BST.

Both were taken ashore by the Penlee Lifeboat to Mullion Cove on the Lizard where they were seen by paramedics.

A coastguard spokesman said the kayakers were both experienced and well prepared with buoyancy aids and the man was wearing a wetsuit.
