Pair rescued from estuary ford in Cornwall

Two people have been rescued from an estuary ford in Cornwall after their van became stuck in rising water.

Firefighters were called to St John, in south-east Cornwall, after the pair refused to leave their vehicle because of the fast flowing water.

Two firefighters wore dry suits and used buoyancy aids to rescue them, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said

A tractor from a local farm was used to tow the van from the ford on Wednesday afternoon. No-one was hurt.
