St Austell home residents evacuated after suspected arson
Eleven people have been evacuated from a home for vulnerable people in Cornwall after suspected arson attack.
The "ferocious" blaze at the sheltered accommodation on Eastbourne Road in St Austell broke out about 00:45 BST, fire crews said.
A woman has been arrested in connection with the suspected arson attack.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said all residents had been accounted for, but would not be able to return for the "immediate future".
Group manager Nigel Vincent said the blaze started in a first-floor room and had spread to the roof.
He said: "On the initial call it was unclear whether everyone had been accounted for.
"On initial attendance they [firefighters] were faced with quite a ferocious and severe fire in a bedroom."
Mr Vincent said residents would not be able to return because of water and smoke damage.
"I understand all the residents have been relocated to another premises in the St Austell area," he added.
