Two released after woman shot in head in Millendreath

Two men arrested after a woman was shot in the head in Cornwall have been released.

A 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was released without charge pending further investigation.

A 66-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender was bailed until 16 December.

The woman, who survived, was found by an ambulance crew who were called to a house in Looe on Monday.

Police said the 50-year-old had been shot in Millendreath on Sunday and had apparently made her way to the house in Looe.

The woman, who also has a shoulder injury, is believed to have been shot with a low-calibre gun - a weapon which fires ammunition with a small diameter - at about 23:00 BST on Sunday.

She was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where she remains in a serious condition.

On Wednesday, a 47-year-old man, also from Looe, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, was released on bail.
