Plymouth police officer accused of three rapes

A serving police officer has been charged with three counts of rape.

PC Ryan Canning, 43, who is based in Plymouth, was suspended from duty at the start of the investigation, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

He is due to appear at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on 27 July.

The force said it expects the highest standards from staff and "will robustly investigate misconduct and alleged criminal offences".
