Man injured in murder bid crash in Coventry

A man suffered serious leg injuries when he was run down by the driver of a car after a suspected row in Coventry.

West Midlands Police said they were treating the incident in Hood Street, Hillfields, as attempted murder.

Det Insp Martin Slevin said police believed four or five men got into a car and drove off before "turning around and driving back down and colliding with the victim".

The vehicle is described as a silver 3 or 5 series BMW.

Police have appealed for possible witnesses, including two taxi drivers at the scene in the early hours, to contact officers.

Det Insp Slevin added: "Looking at CCTV, we know there were two Hackney carriage cabs, one light and one dark, plus a third vehicle, who were in the vicinity at the time who may have seen the incident and have vital information.

"We believe the silver BMW may have overtaken these vehicles and we would urge the drivers to contact us as soon as possible."

Police also want to hear from anyone who may have knowledge of the car, which may be damaged.
