Studley Castle Hotel closed for night after masonry fall

A Warwickshire hotel has been closed to guests for a night after a piece of masonry fell from a roof.

The fire service was called to the Best Western Studley Castle Hotel at 10:47 BST.

A spokesman said some masonry had dislodged from a Grade II-listed building's roof, damaging a ceiling.

Best Western Hotels GB said it was contacting all guests booked into the hotel on Tuesday night to find alternative accommodation.

In a statement, the company said: "All guests have been evacuated and the emergency services have attended, cordoned off the affected area which is within the hotel, and have left the property.

"A structural engineer has been called and we are currently communicating with the owner of the property to find out further information."
