A thanksgiving service has been held for Warwickshire-based television antiques expert David Barby.

Mr Barby, 69, from Rugby, who was best known for appearances on BBC shows like Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, died in July following a short illness.

He had returned to Warwickshire in 1978, after a stint in London, to work at a Leamington auction house where he would eventually become a partner.

The service was held at St Andrew's Church, Rugby, at 14:30 BST.

Mr Barby first became interested in antiques as a boy growing up in Rugby.

He began working for a local firm before spending the brief stint in London.

Mr Barby, who appeared in the first episode of Flog It in 2002, also founded a valuation company, David J Barby and Associates, in Rugby.
