A service for the Polish community to say goodbye to murdered four-year-old Daniel Pelka has taken place.

The Catholic mass service was conducted at the St Stanislaus Koska church in Foleshill in Coventry on Thursday.

A spokesman for the church said it was a chance for people to remember Daniel before his body is flown back to Poland for his funeral "in the next few days."

Daniel, was murdered by his mother Magdelena Luczak and her partner Mariusz Krezolek last year.

The couple were jailed for life to serve a minimum of 30 years at the beginning of the month.

Since the court case, people have been leaving flowers and candles at a memorial in the ruins of the old Coventry Cathedral.

The findings of a serious case review into how authorities handled the events leading up to Daniel's death are due to be published next month.
