Work to build a new railway station in Kenilworth will start in the summer.

Warwickshire County Council made the announcement as it held exhibitions over the weekend for the public to view the station's designs.

The town's previous station was closed in the 1960s as part of the Beeching cuts.

After years of campaigning, the latest bid for a new station, in Priory Road, received government support in December.

Operator London Midland has said it expects to provide a service between Coventry and Leamington Spa.

Earlier this month, a train was chartered along the route to test the running times.
