Man dies after hitting tree on A46 in Warwickshire

A man has died after hitting a tree that had fallen into a busy dual carriageway in Warwickshire, police have said.

The crash happened on the A46 between Kenilworth and the Stoneleigh Road junction at 04:51 GMT.

The man, believed to be in his 40s and from Kenilworth, died at the scene after his BMW hit what looked like "tree debris in the road," police said.

The Highways Agency said the A46, which was closed, had now reopened.

No other vehicles were believed to be involved.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "There was one patient, a male driver of the vehicle, but sadly it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
