Cumbria detective charged with misconduct

A detective in the Cumbria force has been charged with misconduct in a public office.

Mark Fisher was arrested in January after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct of a police officer and disclosure of information.

The 48-year-old detective constable, who has been suspended from duty, will appear before Carlisle Magistrates' Court on 10 August.

He was also charged with an offence under the Data Protection Act.

The police investigation was managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
