The 24-year-old victim, Ian Renouf, suffered facial injuries in the unprovoked attack in Cockermouth early on Sunday.

Following tip offs from the public, the men, aged between 18 and 25 were been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Mr Renouf was treated at West Cumberland Hospital following the assault at about 0215 BST on Sunday.
