Cumbria detective charged with misconduct

A Cumbria police officer has appeared in court charged with five offences of misconduct in a public office.

Det Con Mark Fisher is accused of having sexual relationships with two women as a result of contact made during the course of his duties.

The 48-year-old, from Cockermouth, is also charged with disclosing information to alleged victims in ongoing investigations.

Carlisle magistrates committed the case for crown court trial in October.

The charges relate to the officer's duties between 1 Jan 1990 and 6 June 2010.

They follow an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Mr Fisher was granted unconditional bail to attend Carlisle Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on 25 October.
