Body found in search for missing Lake District walker

Searchers looking for a man missing on Blencathra in the Lake District have found a body.

Mountain rescue teams from Keswick, Penrith and Kirkby Stephen were involved in the search for the 51-year-old man from the Nottingham area.

The man's wife reported him missing on Wednesday evening after he failed to return from a walk.

Cumbria Police said an RAF helicopter was drafted in to assist in the search operation.

Blencathra, also known locally as Saddleback, is popular with walkers and is one of the most northerly mountains in the Lake District.
