Lorry driver bailed over cyclist death in Carlisle

A 61-year-old lorry driver arrested on suspicion of causing the death of an elderly cyclist in a crash in Cumbria has been bailed.

Colin Rae was struck on Brampton Road, Carlisle, outside the University of Cumbria on Wednesday.

The 83-year-old, who lived in the street, died at the scene. Police later seized a lorry at Willowholme and arrested the man near Brampton.

Cumbria Police said the suspect had been bailed until 12 December.
