Gun recovered linked to robberies in Cumbria

A gun has been recovered by the police team investigating a series of armed robberies around north and west Cumbria.

The handgun was recovered in Carlisle on Sunday. Police say tests will reveal whether it was the weapon used in one of the November robberies.

Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with the robberies.

Both men from Carlisle, aged 33 and 19, were remanded in custody and will appear at crown court on 24 January.

The 33-year-old is charged with conspiracy to rob.

The 19-year-old is charged with attempted robbery, possession of a firearm and conspiracy to rob.
