Call to make children's song a Christmas hit

People in Cumbria are being urged to download a song written and recorded by a group of children in care.

The lyrics of the song Every Dream Matters aims to reflect the experiences and hopes of young people and their feelings about being in care.

Cumbria County Council is urging people to buy it and help push it into the Christmas charts.

All proceeds from sales will go towards developing further work with children in care.

The song was written as part of a project run by arts company Whitewood and Fleming in partnership with Cumbria County Council.

Last year the group performed the song in London as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC.)

Councillor Anne Burns, the council's cabinet member responsible for children's social care, said: "These young people continue to be an inspiration to us all through their hard work and passion.

"If we all download the tune we could well have a hit on our hands."
