Carlisle man arrested in 'screwdriver' shop robbery

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a shop in Cumbria.

Police were called to Foreways Stores in Bedford Road, Carlisle, on Sunday after a man armed with a screwdriver threatened a shop assistant.

He ran off with a quantity of cash leaving the woman shaken but uninjured, Cumbria Police said.

A 46-year-old man from the city was later arrested on suspicion of robbery and is in custody.
