Warning after spate of oil thefts in Cumbria

Police have warned the public to be vigilant following a spate of diesel and heating oil thefts in Cumbria.

Since the start of the year, there have been 17 reports of stolen diesel and eight of heating oil in the Brampton and Longtown areas.

Although most have been from commercial premises, fuel tanks at remote dwellings have also been targeted.

Residents and businesses have been urged to lock their tanks and report any suspicious activity.
