Published
Two men have been arrested after claims a man was threatened with a firearm in Workington.
Armed officers were immediately deployed to the town centre on Tuesday morning.
A small gas powered pistol was seized by police for examination.
Officers said they were "tentatively" linking the incident to a disruption that they were called to in the town on Monday night.
The two Workington men, aged 23 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
They are currently in police custody.
On Monday evening Cumbria police were called to a pub in Finkle Street, Workington after receiving reports of a fight between two men.
Police said it was alleged one of the men was seen with an object that was said to have resembled a small pistol.
However no weapons were found.
No-one was injured during the incidents and police are appealing for witnesses.
