Mother and son hurt in Cumbria dog attack

An eight-year-old boy and his mother were injured when they were attacked by a dog in a garden in Cumbria.

Police were called to an address in the Rheda area of Frizington just after 1115 GMT.

They were taken to hospital but the boy was later discharged. His 29-year-old mother suffered lacerations and a suspected broken wrist.

Cumbria Police said the owners of the dog, believed to be a mastiff, consented to having it destroyed.
