Man injured in street attack in Carlisle

A man has been attacked as he walked home from a night out in Carlisle.

The 30-year-old man suffered a serious hand injury, believed to have been caused by a sharp implement, during the attack in Osborne Avenue, Carlisle, at 0030 GMT Saturday.

Cumbria Police said the attack was carried out by two men in dark clothing who they believe may have been disturbed by a passing motorist.

The two ran off in the direction of a nearby pathway.

Police are appealing for information.

They are especially interested from hearing from anyone who may have been in the area of Osbourne Avenue or Stanhope Road at the time of the attack.
