Major improvement work to Carlisle Citadel station has been completed.

The revamp included improvements to the seating areas and work to protect passengers from draughts caused by the original design which "channelled" the wind.

A new gateway for platforms used by the Settle and Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall Country lines was created during the six-month refurbishment.

MP John Stevenson unveiled a plaque to mark the end of the £500,000 project.
