Rail workers helped firefighters tackle a blaze which destroyed about 50 acres (20 hectares) of moorland in Cumbria.

More then 20 firefighters from Seascale, Bootle, Egremont and Keswick fought the fire at Muncaster, near Ravenglass, on Saturday.

Staff from the nearby Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway assisted in the six-hour operation to bring the fire under control.

There were no reported injuries. Fire investigators have begun an inquiry.
