A woman who died in a four-vehicle crash in Cumbria was a "fun-loving mother", her family has said.

Charlotte Henrietta Preston - known as Charlie - from Greenside Court in Hincaster, Milnthorpe, died in the crash at Witherslack on Tuesday.

The 48-year-old's black Fiat Punto was involved in a collision with three other vehicles on the A590.

A statement from her family described the mother-of-six as a "fun-loving one-in-a-million who will be sadly missed".

It added: "Well known and liked for her individual personality, she will be missed by all her family and many friends."

The people in the other vehicles, a 24-year-old woman from Barrow and two men aged 38 and 56 from Cockermouth and Cheshire, were not seriously hurt.

Ms Preston was cut from her vehicle and airlifted to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, but later died as a result of her injuries.

Cumbria Police said investigations into the crash were continuing.
