Cumbria bus 'joy-rider' Jamie Hoare detained

A 20-year-old who stole a double-decker bus then crashed it has been sentenced to 22 months' youth detention.

Jamie Hoare, of High Lea Walk in Barrow, was spotted by a police patrol in the bus on the A590 in Cumbria, early on 23 April.

A high-speed chase followed, before he crashed into a roundabout near Kendal.

He admitted aggravated vehicle-taking, driving dangerously, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and driving while unfit through drink.

The judge at Preston Crown Court also banned him from driving for three years.
